Olympic bronze medalist Gao Feng claimed the first gold medal of judo events at the 10th National Games after the judoka from Chinese Army won all her four bouts here on Monday.

The 23-year-old Gao, whose medal winning run in Athens 13 months ago has been regarded as a major breakthrough for China's judo in extra-lightweight category, took only two minutes to beat Gong Hua from Sichuan province with an ippon at the final of the women's 48kg category.

"I told myself again and again that feeling tense of the game could only do bad to my match and I never want to repeat the world championships defeat," said the Guangdong native, whose gold medal will also be calculated into the South China province's total.

"The only secret for my victory today is just to keep my mind well-balanced," she added.

Beijing's Liu Sha earned the first bronze medal in judo with an easy ippon win over Wu Shugen from Inner Mongolia.

The judo events, slated from 10-13, will produce 16 national champions.
