Ecuador and Colombia take golden majority in Guayaquil

Ecuador and Colombia were the two best nations at the World Cup, Pan American Open in Guayaquil, Ecuador. With both countries winning three gold medals, they can look forward to the World Championships. Mexico and the United States both won two gold medals.

Heavyweight Freddy Figueroa, and middleweights Estefania Garcia (U63kg) and Celinda Corozo (U70kg) took the title for the organizing nation. Colombians Juan Hernandez (U60kg), Francisco Balanta (U90kg) and lightweight Luz Alvarez U48kg did what they came for with a golden performance.

USA’s Nicolas Yonezuka (U81kg) and Katelyn Jarrell (U52) won gold for their country. The category U81kg delivered an all American final between Yonezuka and NY based Kell Berliner (JMJC). Katelyn Jarrell will be fighting at the World Championships soon in the team of America that contains the maximum 18 athletes.
