Cyrille Maret books his best victory at Grand Slam Paris

Cyrille Maret celebrated his biggest victory in his career at the Grand Slam of Paris. For his home crowd the World Judo Masters bronze medallist defeated Czech world bronze medallist Lukas Krpalek after a sensational conclusion to the U100kg final.
Both men received shido penalties and, after Krpalek scored a yuko from a ura-nage, Maret registered a yuko of his own just as the five minutes elapsed. Czech judoka had three shido penalties which was one more than Maret and that was decisive. Krpalek sealed a place in the final after Abu Dhabi Grand Prix winner Dimitri Peters pulled out through injury. In the second semi-final Maret outlasted double Omypic bronze medallist Henk Grol of Holland on shido penalties (3-2).
The first bronze medal was won by Grol against Casablanca African Open winner Maxime Clement (FRA) as the latter bowed out (2-1) on shido penalties. The second bronze medal went to Qingdao Grand Prix bronze medallist Adlan Bisultanov (RUS) as Peters could not compete due to injury.
