Shirine Boukli takes revenge against Bilodid
18 Feb 2021 20:15

Shirine Boukli is developing amazingly well. Still she faces serious competition in France. In the category U48kg there is a massive luxurious position. With the experience of Clement and the fire of Boukli, France is well placed
Today’s event saw Clement beaten at the last moment, losing out for bronze to the young Serbian, who continues to impress. Boukli, however, went all the way, throwing the double world champion Bilodid for ippon in the final and showing that those two gold medals do not intimidate her one little bit. This is Boukli’s first grand slam gold and it shows the level at which she now works.
Bilodid was well underway and defated Portuguese Catarina Costa in the semi final. Boukli defeated Clement in a direct contest and qualified for her golden final. You only win from a loss to convert Bilodids silver into something positive, but clearly France continues to splinter the challengers, with only a few able to stand toe to toe with them. From one event to the next they take regular medals, alternating and promising to always give of their best.
