Telma Monteiro new IOC ambassador against competition manipulation
Telma Monteiro was appointed international ambassador for the Believe in Sport project, of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Olympic medalist in Rio 2016 will play an important role in the training of his fellow athletes, through participation in training activities and the sharing of information and tools for protection against the manipulation of competitions.
“One of the plans I have is to take advantage of athletes' meetings, or training webinars, such as those organized by the COP and IOC, in which we have all the athletes together and speak directly with them about these issues”, projects Telma Monteiro to the website Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP).
“I think that with this type of initiative, we can show different perspectives and show the importance of this issue. It is an honor for me to assume the role of ambassador for integrity. I believe in an honest sport and driven by the passion for the uncertainty of what can happen in every moment when athletes give their best ”, concludes Telma Monteiro.
Telma Monteiro will listen internationally to promote athletes' awareness of the risks of manipulating competitions.
The IJF is also promoting clean judo. Judo is also an acknowledged educational tool and a way of life enriched by a moral code and ethic values that have firmly withstood the trial of life.
A clean and fair play sport is important to promote a better society, which can offer a direction in life to the young generations. Doping has no place within the world of Judo, neither does competition manipulation or match fixing.
