Anything could happen in the boy’s U55kg category with two kind of unexpected finallists at the Worlds in Almaty. The boys U18 years made it a spectacular final where Japanese Sato Yuma was favourite to Chinese Taipei Lin Chong-Yu. Who would expect a finalist from Chinese Taipei. The one who does is homework doesn’t frown his eyebrows as the Asian nations is marching fast in the world of Judo.

After their first matches everyone decided to keep an eye the two gladiators, and they were right. In a very technical match, Chong-You surprised Sato with a fast and brilliant arm lock move and won the gold medal.

Lin Chong-You became the first male World Champion of his country Taipei. The youngster won the category for boys U18 years U55kg in the final against Sato Yuma of Japan.

With new talent coming up in Taipei with Lin Chong-You and today’s lightweight U50kg Hsu Chun-Kai Taipeh can expect a bright future in judo. In Almaty there is a delegation of 10 young athletes.

Uzbekistan's Sobirjon Karimov and Ukraine's Vladyslav Kolobov went to the golden score. After two minutes if not much, Karimov scored waza-ari with a flavour of bronze.

The second bronze medal contest could have happened in the final. Two top seeded, the world number one, Italia Vincenzo Skenderi and Turkey Berat Bahadir, the two of them too soon eliminated. It was not a final contest but it got the quality of a final. Skenderi scored waza-ari and won the second medal of the day for Italy in a tight match.
