The draw for the Grand Slam in Paris resulted in 336 male athletes, the second best participation in Paris since 2016 (353) and 2012 (345). In the women’s division 237 athletes is the second best number and only two athletes behind Paris in the Olympic year 2016.

The total number in Paris is 573 athletes. Only in 2012 there were more athletes in Paris (584) and the 93 nations is one less than the record in 2012. The Grand Slam of Düsseldorf is promising even more busier.

The category U81kg is traditionally very strong and with 63 athletes this is the best ever amount at a Grand Slam held since 2009. The previous record was also set in Paris, in 2012. It’s even the most athletes in any weight in 10 years IJF World Tour. Only at World Championships there have been more participants in one category.

The categories U66, U81, U100, U63 and +78kg have the number one of the world in Paris.
