Toth Krisztian of Hungary is a sort of scarecrow in a category that should not escape him, in theory at least, as in Judo we know that anything is always possible. Nevertheless, the 2014 world silver medalist and finalist of the last Abu Dhabi Grand Slam has all the cards in hand to win the Grand Prix of Tashkent, as he did on August 10 at the Budapest Grand Prix, but a small injury he suffered in the first rounds is preventing him from fighting the final.

Toth reached the final and would normally be facing Mammadali Mehdiyev of Azerbaijan. Toth defeated former Slovenian Mihael Zgank who fights for Turkey under the name of Mikail Ozerler in the semi final. Mehdiyev overcame Ivan Vorobev (RUS). The Russian defeated Nemanja Majdov (SRB) in his first battle.
