The individual World Championships will have a prize money of 798,000 US dollars for the medal winners. Twenty percent will be for the coaches of the athletes.

The world champion will receive a debit card with 20,800 USD and the winning coach 5,200 USD. The runner-up will take 12,000 USD and the coach 3,000 USD. For the bronze medallists 8,000 USD is the share while the coach will receive 1600 USD.

In 2015 in Astana the World Champion received 6,000 USD including the 20% for the coach, the silver medallist 4,000 USD and bronze winners 2,000 USD, for this year an increase by 433%.

For the team event a price amount of 200,000 US Dollars is available. 90,000 USD will be available for the golden mixed team, 60,000 USD for the runner-up and the two bronze teams will still pick up 25,000 USD, so 20,000 for the athletes.

Likely there will be more prize money available for best male and female athlete over the period 2012-2017 awarded at the IJF gala on Saturday. The expectation is that Teddy Riner and Majlinda Kelmendi will catch those prestigious awards.
