2009 World Bronze medalist U66kg, An Jeong-Hwan (KOR) will lead the new generation of Judo in Valencia and as a coach of the Spanish national team. The 30-year-old Korean athlete will be added to the Spanish technical staff soon. Jeong-Hwan An is a high class judoka, member of the great Korean generation, such as Kim Jae-Bum, Jun-Ho Cho, Wang Ki-Chun and Kyu-Won Lee.

The Korean already spent some time in Spain at the training camp at Castelldefels before the World Championships in Chelyabinsk, although he was not even selected for it. During his time in Spain, he was hanging out with his number one U66kg opponent, Sugoi Uriarte who still fights in that category.

There is no doubt that there are  good relationships between these two judoka of the same generation.  In July, Spain already strenghtened their team with new sports director Lee Joo Young, who is Korean as well of course. According to these changes, it's obvious that the team of Spain wants to do a serious job in Tokyo 2020, but maybe even before in Rio 2016.

There is some bright light in the Spanish tunnel, last week Fran Garrigos won the European Junior title and Nikoloz Sherazadishvili took bronze. Vamos!
