Georgian judoka Luka Maisuradze captured world bronze in Tokyo in 2019 after he defeated Saeid Mollaei. He took a silver medal at the Junior European Championships in Maribor in 2017. He captured bronze at the European Games in Minsk in 2019. He captured a bronze medal at the 2018 Junior World Championships. He won the Europa League with Golden Gori in 2018. The last final of the day opposed the Russian Aslan Lappinagov and the Greek Alexios Ntanatsidis, in a fight of strong men. For 4 minutes, the attacks were launched from one side to the other, without rest, the two athletes closing the first part of the contest, without scoring, but also without receiving the slightest penalty. It took Lappinagov 44 seconds to finally open the score and win the gold medal on a spectacular uchi-mata. We love matches of such intensity, even when they last longer than four minutes. Read more

World number 406 Lee Moon Jin of Korea created one of the biggest shocks in IJF World Judo Tour history as the rank outsider won all six of his contests on his Grand Slam debut. World bronze medallist Luka Maisuradze (GEO) was his sixth and final victim as the former Asian Championships bronze medallist rolled the 21-year-old hotshot over for a waza-ari score and added a match-winning second with a counter for ippon. Sagi Muki is the first male world champion for Israel

An exciting tournament U81kg at the World Championships with Sagi Muki as the new World Champion. In the final he defeated belgian prodigy Matthias Casse another time. Muki and Casse know each-other inside out but again Muki was able to take this match and captured the first world title for his country. What an tremendous day for Belgian Matthias Casse. He captured the European Games title in Minsk and was among the favourites. The absence of his nemesis Sagi Muki might have helped him in the end, but he was the best of this top field and defeated opponents this he usually experiences difficulties fighting them including 2017 World Champion Alexander Wieczerzak (GER). Georgian youngster Luka Maisuradze makes his mark

Georgian rookie Luka Maisuradze provided Georgia with gold on day two as he beat fellow young gun and Tel Aviv Grand Prix bronze medallist Christian Parlati (ITA) in the U81kg final. Maisuradze threw with an o-soto-gari which the world number 33 initially resisted but the Georgian kept driving and finished the technique to win his first IJF gold medal. Read more
