Judoka Hidayet Heydarov of Azerbaijan became European Senior champion in 2017 in Warsaw U73kg and silver in 2018. He won bronze at the World Championships in Baku in 2018. He is the only male judoka ever to win all four different European titles. Heydarov became World Junior Champion in Zagreb in 2017 and bronze in 2015. He became European Cadet Champ in 2013 and 2014. In 2016 he won the Junior European title in 2016 and 2017. Heydarov won Grand Slam, Masters and Grand Prix medals.

Hidayat Heydarov of Azerbaijan won his home Grand Slam for the first time as he beat Tel Aviv Grand Prix bronze medallist Tohar Butbul (ISR) in a nervy U73kg final. The former European Championships gold medallist and World bronze medallist won his first IJF World Judo Tour medal in ideal fashion as he used the home advantage and encouragement of the crowd to fuel his charge to victory in Baku.
