Distria Krasniqi claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships U48kg. She was World Junior Champion for Kosova U52kg. Krasniqi won Grand Prix gold in Samsun, Antalya and The Hague. Krasniqi won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017, silver in 2019 and gold in 2020. She became European U23 Champion in 2017. Vice European Champion in 2018. Krasniqi won the World Masters in 2018 and 2019 in Guangzhou and Qingdao.

Russia put in fine performances on the second day of the European Cup for Juniors in Leibnitz in Austria taking three gold medals. Nevertheless the field of medal winners was wide spread with fifteen nations earning at least one medal. World number three Erika MIRANDA (BRA) beat world number two Andreea CHITU (ROU) to stand on top of the medal podium and see the Brazilian flag raised at the Sarhadchi Olympic Sport Centre. Pan American Champion MIRANDA defeated Zagreb Grand Prix winner CHITU, who turned 27 on Friday, with a stunning piece of shime-waza. CHITU failed with an ambitious ashi-waza attempt and fell forwards onto her knees after her ouchi-gari attack as MIRANDA locked on the choke with 65 seconds left and the Romanian had no choice but to submit. World silver medallist and world number two Andreea CHITU (ROU) showed her fighting spirit as she beat Tyumen Grand Slam silver medallist Yulia RYZHOVA (RUS) in a frenetic contest. CHITU, who was penalised for passivity after 90 seconds, was first to the grip for the remainder of the contest as she showed a real appetite for beating the Russian and received the rewards for all her endeavours in the form of the gold medal. In the same category as Majlinda Kelmendi Kosovo has another talent. Winner of the last Grand Prix, one week ago in Tbilisi, Jaana SUNDBERG (FIN) came to Turkey full of confidence but she was quickly defeated by Larisa FLORIAN (ROU) in the preliminary rounds. Seven winning nations at first day European Open in Sofia

On the first day the lightweight categories came together in action and host nation Bulgaria took a gold medal in the category U60kg. Yanislav Gerchev set the tone for the final block, cheered on by many fans and coach Georgi Georgiev, who in 2002 was the last Bugarian to win the tournament.
