Distria Krasniqi claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships U48kg. She was World Junior Champion for Kosova U52kg. Krasniqi won Grand Prix gold in Samsun, Antalya and The Hague. Krasniqi won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017, silver in 2019 and gold in 2020. She became European U23 Champion in 2017. Vice European Champion in 2018. Krasniqi won the World Masters in 2018 and 2019 in Guangzhou and Qingdao.

Zagreb opens the World Tour with new generation

This week the first IJF World Tour event will be held, in the beautiful city of Zagreb the top athletes will gain new points for a good seeing and slowly build up their Olympic cycle. It’s the fourth edition of the Croatian Grand Prix, first held in Rijeka, and since 2014 in the capital. The tournament is a stable event in the IJF World Tour and that will be confirmed by a new contract for another term of four years. Read more

Majlinda Kelmendi back to World number one position

Since July 2015 Kosovo judo star Majlinda Kelmendi is back at her number one position at the IJF World Ranking. After winning the IJF Grand Prix in Budapest this weekend, Kelmendi passed Andreea Chitu (ROU). In Rio de Janeiro Chitu will be seeded first as the seeding is based upon the ranking after the last qualification tournament at the IJF Masters in Guadalajara. Read more

Two-time world champion Majlinda Kelmendi of Kosovo faced her lead training partner and understudy in 20-year-old Junior world champion Distria Krasniqi in the U52kg final at the Grand Prix of Budapest. The weight division for women U52kg has become more competitive. In the past it was a rather boring category, but the Europeans have taken over with Majlinda Kelmendi of Kosovo as strong favourite, but also other athletes developed well. Andreea Chitu of Romania is one of the most experienced in the field and delivered some incredible performances. Chitu will face Laura Gomez or Distria Krasniqi, not the easiest starting match. Kelmendi truly has an easy pool and will walk straight to the semi final without wasting energy. Read more
