Rustam Orujov dissapoints Turkish crowd but takes gold in fair play
Hasan VANLIOGLU (TUR) created a big sensation by entering the final of the day in the men’s -73kg category. For that he successively defeated SUN Shuai (CHN) by ippon, Igor WANDTKE (GER) by penalties, Akil GJAKOVA (KOS), Nugzari TATALASHVILI (GEO) by yuko and the top seeded competitor Dex ELMONT (NED) by penalties. Number three seed Rustam ORUJOV (AZE) was the pick of the fighters in the -73kg category as he defeated World number 43 Dastan YKYBAYEV (KAZ) to be crowned Tbilisi Grand Prix 2015 gold medallist. World number nine ORUJOV, who took bronze at the Jeju Grand Prix, opened the scoring with a waza-ari from a sumi-gaeshi and, despite a yuko from a drop seoi-nage for YKYBAYEV, capped a fine all-round performance with gold. Dex Elmont new World ranking leader after Abu Dhabi victory
Dex Elmont took a gold medal at the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi. In the final of the men’s -73kg Elmont opposed Musa Mogushkov of Russia. Due to an injury, Mogushkov couldn’t compete and the victory went to Dex Elmont. Read more
