Paralympic judo legend Oleg Kretsul seized silver at the 1996 Europeans and competed at the 1996 Olympics. He was 5th at the 2005 WCHs in Cairo U78kg. Kretsul got into a car accident. His wife and her brother died. Kretsul was in intensive care 30 days and lost his sight. Moldovan judoka Oleg Cretul won the IBSA European title in 2022 in Cagliari. In 2008 he was Paralympic Champion and won silver in 2004. In 2015 Kretsul won bronze at the IBSA European Championships in Lisbon.
