European U23 Champion Mathias Madsen pays out for Denmark
Judo Danmark is building a new future with young coaches. Since a few years the team is led by Austrian coach Peter Scharinger. He obviously lives in Denmark. Before him Miguel Ogando Lopes (POR) worked with the talents from Denmark. Both have been working with three athletes who grew from successful cadets to juniors and now want to get traction at senior level. It's not easy to find the pace to deliver each event over and over again. American judoka Chantal Wright is the athlete with most Olympic qualification events without reaching the quarter finals. Dutch judoka Sanne Vermeer won the Junior World Championships with a comprehensive victory over Danish Laerke Olsen in the U63kg final. Vermeer had a razor sharp focus all day long and immediately breached the scoreboard with a waza-ari from a ko-soto-gari. Read more

Special day for Italian juniors as they claim two world titles
What an amazing day for the Italian team. Never in Italian history have world titles were captured in one day, let alone three world titles in one event. On the third day of the World Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, Alice Bellandi and Christian Parlati claimed junior world titles. Read more
