German judoka Sappho Coban won the World Junior title in 2013 in Ljubljana. In 2012 she had already won the European Junior title and in 2014 she continued the highlights with the European U23 title. In 2015 the German Police woman won the European Cup in Sindelfingen. She won bronze at the European Open in Warsaw in 2016 and silver at the European Open in Sofia in 2017. She took bronze at the World Junior Team Championships in Ljubljana in 2013 with Germany

France was by far the strongest nation at the European Open for women in Sofia. The first Continental Open of 2019 delivered France four gold medals out of four finals. Spain, Germany and Italy signed for the remaining three titles among twelve medal winning nations. Read more

Four gold medals for Japanese women at European Open Sofia

Arleta Podolak wins first World Cup for Poland

For the first time since 14 years Poland welcomed a home winner of its own European Open in Warsaw. Arleta Podolak won the category U57kg. Barbara Wojcicka was the last female Polish winner in 2002. In the past Poland had a few good women in this light middleweight category. Maria Gontowicz-Szalas, Aneta Przybysz, Beáta Kucharzewska and Marzena Wegrzyn were the previous winners in the ninetees, but Podolak is the first of the century winning this weight class. Read more

Tokyo generation announces ambitions with gold

Milica Nikolic is her name and for the insiders no surprise. She is hard to fight and despite her 20 years she has the experience.
