Russian judoka Irina Dolgova won the European senior title in 2018 in Tel Aviv and silver in Minsk in 2019. She won almost 20 World Cup mdedals. Silver at the 2017 European Championships in Warsaw. Dolgova won the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2017. She won 6 European and World Cadet and Junior titles as well as the EYOF in 2011. Dolgova won her 1st Grand Prix in 2014 in Samsun. In 2015 Dologova won her first Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi. Silver medal at the IJF Masters n 2017 and bronze in 2019.

At the European Championships in Kazan Hungarian Eva Csernoviczki and Charline van Snick are separated in the draw. The weight division for women U48kg won’t have any athlete of the top 5 of the World Ranking. The mainly Asian dominated class has an Pan American Olympic Champion and two European Olympic medallists, who this edition in Kazan will also fight for the medals. Minor changes in the IJF World Ranking

Just small changes in the World Ranking top 10 this week. Renat Saidov moved up to the 6th position after his victory at the African Open last weekend. Dutch heavyweight Roy Meyer changed to 8 from The highest ranked athlete who won the African Open in Port Louis is Russian Irina Dolgova who’s in good shape with her second victory in 8 days. She is stable at 4 like last week. Assmaa Niang gained one place to #14. Read more

Canada and Russia grab two gold in Port Louis

There haven’t been many occasions where team Canada picked up two gold medals at an Olympic qualifiying moment. Today in Port Louis in Madagascar that day was realized by Patrick Gagne and Arthur Margelidon. It’s not a bad year for the Canadians who won three World Cups in San Salvador in June. For Margelidon it was his third World Cup, each year one. The 22-year old judoka won the category U73kg in Madagascar. In the final he defeated Turkish Hasan Vanlioglu. Read more

Munkhbat captures first victory since May at GP Tashkent

At the first day of the Grand Prix in Astana the lightweight women fought for successing Belgian Charline van Snick. With 17 women this female category was the weakest of the seven divisions. Former world champion and World Judo Masters winner Munkhbat Urantsetseg (MGL) was first to strike gold in Tashkent as she defeated Jeong Bo Kyeong (KOR) in the U48kg final. Both judoka were penalised for not taking a grip after 54 seconds and Munkhbat immediately responded with some intricate ne-waza work and trapped her opponent in osaekomi for 17 seconds and waza-ari. The Mongolian was penalised again for a false attack but kept her composure to capture yet another IJF podium. Read more
