Belgian judoka Matthias Casse became World Champion in 2021 in Budapest. He finished with bronze at the 2020 Olympic Games. He already was runner-up at the Worlds in 2019 in Tokyo and 2022 in Tashkent. Casse won the IJF World Masters in 2019 in Qingdao and Grand Slam in Paris in 2020. Casse was Junior World Champion in 2017. Casse captured European Games gold in Minsk and a bronze medal in Prague in 2020 followed by silver in 2021 and 2022. Matthias Casse is World number one U81kg in 2020 and 2021. He started 2022 well with a victory at the Grand Prix of Portugal.
