Anatoly Novikov of Russia was 1972 Olympic bronze medallist in Munich for the Soviet Union. The judoka won bronze at the World Championships in Lausanne in 1973 U70kg. Novikov seized silver at the European Championships in 1972. With the Soviet Union he won European team titles in 1972 and 1973.
