German judoka Vivian Herrmann won the European Open in Madrid in 2016. She became German judo champion in 2015 and 2016 and bronze in 2014 U63kg. She won the European Cup in Malaga in 2015 and 2016. Herrmann won World Junior bronze in 2014 in Miami and European Junior silver in 2012 in Porec. She took bronze at the World Junior Team Championships in Ljubljana in 2013 with Germany. She took bronze at the European Open in Madrid in 2018.

Current European Champion Walide Khyar was a logical winner of the European Cup in Malaga in the category U66kg, although one category higher than his usual weight. In Malaga he defeated Puerto Rican Augusto Miranda. Khyar (21) never competed at a senior European Cup, but today was an exception on his way back, his first event after the Olympic Games. Read more
