Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia won the Olympic title in Rio in 2016 in the final against Travis Stevens. In 2016 he became European Champion and won the Grand Prix of Havana. At the 2017 World Champinoships he won bronze. The twinbrother of Khusen won the Universiade title in 2015 and was European Junior Champion in 2011 and won 2 medals at European U23 Championships. Khasan was World U17 Champion in Budapest in 2009 U73kg. At his comeback in 2017 he won in Sarajevo and Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg.

Eight new World Ranking leaders set Japan back to the top

On Monday the new IJF World Ranking was released with eight new world ranking leaders. Soichi Hashimoto (U73kg) and Sumiya Dorjsuren (U57kg) were number one last week and also won the world title. It’s not about the ranking but about the performance. Four male World Ranking leaders of last week didn’t make a medal, three women didn’t make a medal and heavyweight Slutskaya couldn’t participate in Budapest. We introduce the new Ranking leaders. In the category U81kg there remains two big prospects for the World title in Budapest: Olympic Champion Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia and World Champion Takanori Nagase of Japan. Khasan Khalmurzaev is one of the best examples for the cadets. The Russian Olympic champion became Cadet World champion in 2009 and won the Olympic title 7 years later. Rio 2016 Olympic champion Khasan Khalmurzaev thrilled the partisan crowd as he beat two-time Grand Slam runner-up Ungvari Attila (HUN) in the U81kg final of the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg.
