Naohisa Takato is triple World Champion. He won gold in 2018 in Baku, 2017 in Budapest and in 2013 he won the title in Rio de Janeiro for the first time. Takato won bronze at the worlds in Chelyabinsk in 2014. He won the World Junior title in 2011 in Cape Town. In 2009 Takato became World Cadet Champion also in Budapest. He was Olympic bronze medallist in 2016 in Rio. In 2017 he added his third Paris victory. Takato won various Grand Slams in Moscow, Tokyo, Paris (4) and Masters.

Three-time world champion Takato Naohisa (JPN) set a new record of 10 Grand Slam gold medal wins as he beat world number one and double world bronze medallist Nagayama Ryuju (JPN) in the -60kg final.
