Japan women take the team world title
The Japanese women have won the world title for teams. In the final the Japanese dominated the team of Poland. For Poland the best ever performance and a miracle to get that far. The Japanese women however were much too strong. The Japanese won by 5-0, although Katarzyna Klys gave a good match and kept the match at 0-0 but with one penalty behind against Chizuru Arai. Daria Pogorzelec couldn’t hold Kanae Yamabe and lost the last match in 25 seconds, 5-0 to Japan. The final team consisted of Misato Nakamura, Anzu Yamamoto who hadn’t competed in the individual tournament U57kg, Miku Tashiro U63 and Arai and Yamabe as last two weight categories. Read more

Yu Song brings heavyweight gold back to China
Yu Song has become the world champion for women +78kg. The World Ranking leader was able to defeat Megumi Tachimoto in the final. The Japanese was the only medallist who qualified for the final. She defeated Idalys Ortiz in the quarter final. It was Yu Song though who managed to deal with the expectations. Read more

A total of 34 women will be fighting for the world title to including world and Olympic champion Idalys Ortiz of Cuba. The World ranking list and seeding is led by Chinese Song YU. Despite the number of women, there are no real weak ones in the field. The level is quite high and a lot of surprises can happen. In the same pool with Yu also Japanese Kanae Yamabe. Nihel Cheikh Rouhou is the favourite in pool B, tall women and powerful. Ma Sisi of China is one of them and capable to reach the semi final against Yu or Yamabe. Read more

Chinese heavyweight Yu Song takes second World Masters
Chinese Yu Song prolonged her Masters title in Rabat. The question at the beginning of the day was on the side of Idalys ORTIZ (CUB). Is the Olympic and world champion capable of winning the Masters’ title? The answer turned out to be no, as the Cuban was defeated twice, by Svitlana Yaromka during the preliminaries and by Nihel Chikrouhou in repechage. Read more

Kanae Yamabe on her way to World Championships qualification
Kanae Yamabe took a gold medal at the Grand Prix of Dusseldorf. With this victory she is on her way to qualification for the World Championships together with unrivalled Megumi Tachimoto. In the women’s +78kg weight category, the surprise came from the fact that the two top seeded athletes, Franziska KONITZ (GER) and YU Song (CHN) were not able to enter the final, the Chinese being defeated during the preliminary rounds. It was the third and fourth seeded competitors who finally fought for gold, YAMABE Kanae (JPN) and Nihel CHEIKH ROUHOU (TUN). Read more
