Sanne van Dijke of the Netherlands became European Senior Champion in 2017 in Warsaw U70kg followed by the victory at the Grand Slam in Ekaterinburg. Van Dijke won the European title for Juniors and U23 in 2014. She won her first Grand Prix medal in 2015 in Dusseldorf. She took silver at the IJF World Masters in 2019 in Qingdao. Sanne won bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2017. She captured silver at the European Games in Minsk in 2019 and over 15 World Cup medals.

Zagreb opens the World Tour with new generation

This week the first IJF World Tour event will be held, in the beautiful city of Zagreb the top athletes will gain new points for a good seeing and slowly build up their Olympic cycle. It’s the fourth edition of the Croatian Grand Prix, first held in Rijeka, and since 2014 in the capital. The tournament is a stable event in the IJF World Tour and that will be confirmed by a new contract for another term of four years. Read more

Russians show their candidacy for Olympic Games in Madrid

Portugal won a great gold medal as Anri Egutidze defeated Matthias Casse of Belgium in the final. Casse started the draw but injured himself. Due to a hand injury he had to withdraw halfway the match and Egutidze won the gold. It wasn’t the excpected final as both youngsters did a great job by defeating world top athletes. Read more

This week the European Championship U23 will take place in the Slovak capital Bratislava. The little big city on the river Danube. Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, has a long and glorious history. Right now, Bratislava is colorful modern capital that grew from an ancient river crossing. The Slovak Judo federation have a reputation in organizing judo events. In 1995 the European Team Championships were held in Trnava. In 1999 the European senior Championships were organised in Bratislava and this weekend the elite of the European judo U23 are selected to fight for the titles. Read more

Beka Gviniasvhvili writes judo history

Beka Gviniashvili showed awesome judo today in Oberwart and wrote Judo history with his fourth junior European medal in a row. The Netherlands have taken the victory in the medal table at the European Junior Championships in Oberwart. The Dutch won four gold medals as today Frank de Wit and Larissa Groenwold added another title. Not just Groenwold and De Wit but also Szabina Gercsak was a great winner when she stunned Sanne Van Dijke in the final, in another exciting day of junior judo.
