Brazilian Rafaela Silva became Olympic Champion in Rio in 2016 and was 2013 World Champion, also in Rio. In 2011 she won World silver and bronze in 2019 in the Budokan. She claimed 7 IJF World Tour victories twice in Budapest and twice in Dusseldorf. Silva won the Junior world title in 2008. Born in the Rio favelas and represents the Brazilian Sports dream. She helps with Flavio Canto's project to help the poor people. She became World Military champion in 2018 in Rio. Coached by Mario Tsutsui.

Marti Malloy starts Olympic year with victory in Havana

In the women’s U57kg in Havana’s Grand Prix, once again the top seeded athlete, American Marti Malloy confirmed her position and entered the final after having defeated the Brazilian 2013 World Champion Rafaela Silva in the semi-final. In the final she was opposed to world number nine and European Games silver medallist Karakas Hedvig of Hungary. Read more

Brazil and Russia shine at CISM Military Games

Brazil has become the winner of the World Military Games, CISM in Mungyeong in Korea. The Brazilian team captured five gold medals, three silver and three bronze. The Russian judoka were able to take four titles in the individual tournament. Korea (2), China and Algeria, both one title divided the gold medals. Read more
