Brazilian Rafaela Silva became Olympic Champion in Rio in 2016 and was 2013 World Champion, also in Rio. In 2011 she won World silver and bronze in 2019 in the Budokan. She claimed 7 IJF World Tour victories twice in Budapest and twice in Dusseldorf. Silva won the Junior world title in 2008. Born in the Rio favelas and represents the Brazilian Sports dream. She helps with Flavio Canto's project to help the poor people. She became World Military champion in 2018 in Rio. Coached by Mario Tsutsui.

The Olympic Games always have a huge effect on the social media of the athletes. Most accounts are increasing but some are really exploding where there’s obviously a connection between the results. Paula Pareto had a more than average account with 16,000 followers, but exploded after her Olympic title to 109,000 followers. Teddy Riner was the biggest active judoka on twitter with over 120,000 followers but now gained another 25,000. Almost 80 percent of all Olympic medallist have an instagram account. Read more

The Olympic Games Games Judo Tournament has come to an end with Japan leading the medal table as expected, however the Asian countries were expected to dominate much more. Instead the European nations built out the number of titles to eight compared to seven in London. Pan America was able to capture three titles, same number as Asia. Read more

Silva gave the team the ultimate inspiration to proceed the medal hunger because judo it the frontrunner of Brazilian sport. Kaori Matsumoto is still in the race to be the first to prolong her Olympic title in 2016. The Japanese had to give everything what she had in a thrilling quarter final against French Automne Pavia. A match with more than 3 minutes in the golden score where it was Matsumoto who gave her last breath to a wazari score and won the match afterall, despite all the danger from the tall Pavia. Pavia was against sent to the repechage, just like in 2012 when the two fought as well, then in the semi final.
