Sarah Menezes became Olympic Champion in 2012 in London U48kg. She won the Junior world title in 2008 in Bangkok and 2009 in Paris. She won bronze at the World Championships in 2010, 2011 and 2013. Menezes won 11 World Cup events starting in 2008. 3 time winner of the Grand Slam of Russia. In 2016 she won the Grand Prix of Havana. She won a silver medal at the Grand Prix in Cancun in 2017. She took a bronze medal at the Grand Prix Tbilisi and Antalya in 2018. She won +30 World Cup medals.

Rio 2016 judo venue Carioca 2 opened

The venue for judo at the Olympic Games has been officially handed over to the Rio 2016 Organising Committee. Carioca Arena 2, named after the colloquial name for city locals, was inaugurated by Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes, who handed the keys to Rio 2016 president, Carlos Nuzman. The 10,000-capacity stadium will host judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, and Paralympic sport boccia before becoming part of the Olympic Training Centre, a key sporting legacy of the Games. Brazil dominates the Pan American Championships in Havana are having completed the first day. With five gold medals, the target was more than reached. Canada and United States were able to win one title. The temperature of the Yasar Dogu Sports Arena raised in the final of the Grand Prix of Samsun U48kg both athletes entered the competition area, the public warmly encouraging Dilara Lokmanhekim and chanting ’Turkiye, Turkiye’. But that was not enough to boost the 21 year old Turkish athlete who was quickly thrown two times, the first one with a sumi-gaeshi for waza-ari, followed a few seconds later by a massive ura-nage (counterattack) for a full ippon.
