Lukas Krpalek became Olympic Champion in 2016 in Rio. Krpalek became World Champion in 2019 +100kg and 2014 fighting U100kg and double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg. He won the European senior title in 2018 in Tel Aviv. He took bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw in 2017. He was double Junior World Champion. Krpalek was 7th at the Olympic Games in London. He captured more than 30 World Cup medals including 13 victories. Coached by Petr Lacina.

The Czech home crowd at the European Open in Prague was happy and cheered for Lukas Krpalek. The Czech star was able to win the category O100kg, a bit unusual for him, but it gives him some space to be relaxed in his weight management. Krpalek defeated Marius Paskevicius of Lithuania in the heavyweight final. Last edition Krpalek won the category U100kg. Read more

The European Open in Prague organisers have received 300 entries from 40 countries. “The number of entries is a bit higher than we have expected”, Dolejs, President of the Czech Judo Federation said. “Although the Olympic qualification is about to start later this year we will see a lot of potential Olympians this year in Prague”. Lukas Krpalek narrowly escapes in U100kg final against Reyes

Czech World number three and European champion Lukas Krpalek narrowly defeated Junior World Championships gold medallist Kyle Reyes from Canada in an engrossing U100kg final. Krpalek, who had been penalised twice for passivity, scored a yuko with a minute remaining from a sumi-gaeshi. Canadian starlet Reyes, who lives and trains in Japan, was determined to improve on his fifth place from the 2012 Tokyo Grand Slam and will be pleased with his battling performance which earned him a richly-deserved silver medal.
