Lukas Krpalek became Olympic Champion in 2016 in Rio. Krpalek became World Champion in 2019 +100kg and 2014 fighting U100kg and double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg. He won the European senior title in 2018 in Tel Aviv. He took bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw in 2017. He was double Junior World Champion. Krpalek was 7th at the Olympic Games in London. He captured more than 30 World Cup medals including 13 victories. Coached by Petr Lacina.

This weekend The Czech Republic is ready to welcome all male athletes for the last stop of the European Opens during the qualifying period for Rio 2016. In Prague over 300 competitors amongst 58 nations will be on show at Arena Sparta in Prague. Among the athletes 2014 World Champion Lukas Krpalek fighting U100kg. Krpalek can defend his title of 2014 and continue his streak, also in 2012 Lukas won the Czech Open. Read more

Olympic champion Tagir Khaibulaev took a vital step towards selection for Rio 2016 to defend his title by winning his first Grand Slam title by beating former world champion Lukas Krpalek (CZE). The European Games bronze medallist put his failure to win a World Championships medal behind him in the best possible fashion as he won Grand Slam gold in his homeland. Ryunosuke Haga of Japan steps into the footlight of his coach Keiji Suzuki who won the world title in 2005. The 24-year athlete is the fourth Japanese to take the world title U100kg after Kosei Inoue in 1999, 2001 and 2003, Suzuki in 2005 and Takamasa Anai in 2010.
