Belgian Charline van Snick is Olympic Games bronze medallist in 2012, 2013 World bronze medallist and 2015 European Games winner after two lost European finals. In 2015 she won the Grand Prix in Dusseldorf and took silver at the Grand Slam of Paris. She won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017 U52kg. Van Snick won the Grand Slam of Abu Dhabi in 2017 and she took 29 World Cup medals. She won the Grand Prix in The Hague in 2018 and bronze at the 2018 World Masters.

Charline van Snick defeats Ebru Sahin in the final U48kg

The first Baku European Games in judo is for Charline van Snick. In the final for women U48kg she defeated Ebru Sahin of Turkey who was showing such good form despite her arm injury which was still taped well. Van Snick took the 400 points for the World Ranking which will help her to climb the ladder towards a good seeding at the Olympic Games where the best eight will get a protected seed. Read more

Qingdao Grand Prix winner Monica UNGUREANU (ROU) topped a Grand Slam medal podium for the first time in her flourishing career as she bested Olympic bronze medallist CSERNOVICZKI Eva (HUN). The Grand Slam gold was the first IJF medal of the year for UNGUREANU as she celebrated a notable double.
