Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia won the Olympic title in Rio 2016. Tina won the World title in 2015 in Astana and World bronze in 2014 and 2018. In 2017 she won silver in Budapest. She is 2016 and 2017 European Judo champion and won silver at the European Games in 2015 and six European medals. Trstenjak won the Grand Slams in Paris and Abu Dhabi. GP gold in Düsseldorf, Tunis and Zagreb and more than 35 World Cup medals. She took gold at the Grand Slam in Budapest in 2020.

Japanese Junior world champion Nabekura Nami starred for a youthful Japanese team as world and European champion Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia was cast aside in the U63kg final. Nabekura, from Himeji, Hyogo, Japan, was not fazed by the red backpatch status of world champion Trstenjak as she caught the Slovenian with an osoto-gari for a yuko score and looked like she belonged on the world stage. Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan is back at the number one position in the IJF World Ranking after his European title U73kg. It’s the only change after the continental championships of the highest seeds.
