Emils Gerkens from Latvia won the European Cup Cadets Teplice and Berlin in 2017. Emils Gerkens (LAT) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for cadets U90kg in 2017. He clinched a bronze medal at the Junior European Cup in Lignano in 2019. Emils won the gold medal at the Junior European Cup in Kaunas and Leibnitz in 2019. He took bronze at the Junior European Championships in 2019 in Vaantaa.
