Judoka Sven Maresch of SC Berlin grew to international level U81kg. He won European bronze in 2014. Sven won the European U23 Championships in 2009 in Antalya U81kg. He won Grand Prix and Grand Slams of Abu Dhabi, Moscow and Samsun. Maresch was European Junior Champion in 2006 and multiple German Champion.

Takanori Nagase first World Champion U81kg for Japan

Takanori NAGASE is the new World Champion for men U81kg and the first Japanese to take the world title for Japan in this weight class. The Japanese defeated Loic Pietri in the final with a sankaku. After ninety seconds he got all chances to work on his juji gatame and made a transition to oseikomi and sankaku. Although it wasn’t that solid Pietri look devastated in that situation. Pietri won all colours but would have done everything to regain the second world title. Nagase will go Rio de Janeiro as world champion and keep the title for two years until Budapest will organise the worlds. Read more

Juicy semi finals for men U81kg in Astana

As expected a spectacular day at the World Championships where the men U81kg battle to hold and get a position on the stage. In that respect the semi finals do not surprise with three out of four medallists of the previous 2014 edition. A great final in the men’s U81kg as expected, whoever would be in the final, but in fact Avtandil Tchrikishvili was expected to be there again for the third time in a row. Always a spectacular category in judo is the men’s U81kg with world leader Avtandil Tchrikishvili. He was is reigning World and European Champion of 2014 but suddenly in 2015 he lost the key of success. Obviously exaggerated as he is still a boss but lost a few times. Although he doesn’t need to be shape yet, he will be eager enough to regain the European title. Last year he defeated Loic Pietri at home in France. Read more
