Georgii Zantaraia is a phenomenal judoka who won the world title U60kg in 2009 in Rotterdam. The Ukrainian judoka won 6 World Championships medals in a row (2009-2018) and took the European title in 2011 and 2018. He stepped up to U66kg in 2012. In 2017 he regained the European title in Warsaw U66kg. He won silver at the Grand Prix in Hohhot and Zagreb and Grand Slam in Düsseldorf in 2018. He took bronze at the Grand Slam in Paris in 2019. He captured European Games gold in Minsk.

The only final at the Grand Slam in Paris between the two current Ranking leaders was the category U66kg where Davaadorj Tumurkhuleg (MGL-1) and Georgii Zantaraia (UKR-2) fought eachother. Now The Mongolian fighter is back at his number one position that he claimed in April this year, but lost. In total 6 fighters have been world ranking leader so far this year. Read more

Sixty men will fight for the gold medal U66kg including triple World Champion Masashi Ebinuma. He is among the favourites, but it doesn’t mean he is the outspoken title candidate. Ebinuma did show himself much this season. He simply did his job, won the national title and remembered his last international fights as a lesson.
