Georgii Zantaraia is a phenomenal judoka who won the world title U60kg in 2009 in Rotterdam. The Ukrainian judoka won 5 World Championships medals in a row and took the European title in 2011 in Istanbul. He stepped up to U66kg in 2012. In 2017 he became European Senior champion in Warsaw U66kg. Zantaraia is extremely skilled. Was born in Georgia. He won silver at the Grand Prix in Hohhot.

Kenzo Tagawa of Japan stamped his name on the IJF World Judo Tour in Düsseldorf by pipping judo idol and European Champion Georgii Zantaraia (UKR) to -66kg gold. World number 205 Tagawa, 21, attained IJF gold for first time on his first Grand Slam assignment outside of Japan as he held firm against human highlight reel Zantaraia who was at his mercurial best for the majority of the day. At the Grand Slam of Düsseldorf Nekoda Smythe-Davis won the gold medal at the Grand Slam in Düsseldorf after her final U57kg. In a new venue Nekoda Davis again succeeded to take a medal, but this time it was gold and that was a premier performance at this Grand Slam level. Never she won gold in the IJF World Tour. Chair for IJF athlete commission still an option for Teddy Riner

French star Teddy Riner could retain his position as head of the Athletes' Commission after the International Judo Federation (IJF) selected him for a role on the body. Riner, who won his ninth world title during the event here and stretched his winning run to 134 matches, was one of four athletes hand-picked for a position on the Commission by the IJF. Read more
