After one day of judo at the African Championships Tunisia rewarded the fans with an efficient three gold medals of a total of 8 medals. More medals on the first day compared to last year, but one gold less. Most of the weight categories had the dream final with the biggest rivals. Read more


First IJF World Ranking released for 2016

The latest IJF Ranking doesn’t have too many changes compared to last year. This weekend’s African Open in Tunis. Winners Nora Gjakova, Kilian Le Blouch and Marie Eve Gahie kept last year’s point as they prolonged their title. Lucie Louette won silver this weekend after she won the title in 2015, no harm done. The ones who really benefit were Hela Ayari of Tunisia who climbed into the top 20, from 22 to 16. Her compatriot Nihel Cheikh Rouhou kept her fifth place. Read more


French athletes dominate African Open in Tunis again

France became the glorious winner of the first qualification event of the year, the African Open in Tunis. Not with 8 gold medals like last year, but five titles is still impressive enough. Also at the second day France had five finallists, the outcome was different. With 19 medals Les Blues took 34% of the available medals. Slovenia, Tunisia and Estonia all won two gold medals in Tunis. Read more

The first Olympic qualification event of the year is held this weekend in Tunis. The second edition of the African Open hosts 274 athletes from 52 nations. France is leading after day 1 with two gold medals. Host nation Tunisia cheered for the gold medal of Hela Ayari who captured the first ever female gold of any international event in Tunis. Read more
