Judo in Mongolia got very popular because of the Olympic judo title for Naidan Tuvshinbayar in 2008 in Beijing. Mongolian judo is very strong since then and judoka Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar of Mongolia won the world title in 2009. Judo in Mongolia got another boost since the Olympic final of Naidan in 2012 and Urantsetseg Munkhbat (2013) and Ganbat Boldbaatar won the world title in 2014. In 2016 Sumiya Dorjsuren won Olympic silver for Mongolia in Rio. In 2017 Dorjsuren won the world title and 6 medals in total.
