Judo in Czech Republic

Czech Judo has an Olympic Judo Champion. Judoka Lukas Krpalek won the Olympic title in Rio 2016. Lukas Krpalek was Judo World Champion in 2014 and double World Junior Champion. He was coached by Petr Lacina. The Czech Judo Federation is very active with lots of judo events such as the European Open in Prague, the European Open in Prague and European Open for Juniors and European Cup Cadets in Teplice. In 1999 Michaela Vernerova won World bronze in Birmingham. In 1988 Jirí Sosna was European Champion and he won World bronze in 1991. In 1980 Vladimir Kocman won Olympic bronze in Moscow. The Czech Judo Federation was founded in 1936.
