Judo in Algeria celebrated two Olympic judo medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in beijing by Soraya Haddad (bronze) and Amar Benikhlef (silver). Salima Souakri was three times fifth at the Olympic Games. In 2005 Abderrahmane Benamadi won silver at the World Championships in Cairo and Soraya Haddad won bronze. Algerian judo more than 100 African Champions. Amar Meridja, Salima Souakri, Mohammed Bouaichaoui, Omar Rebahi and Soraya Haddad won more than 5 titles. Mohamed Meridja is Education Director of the IJF and African Vice President.
