French judoka impress at first event with new rules

France have won six out of the eight gold medals at the first Continental open of the season. The African Open in Tunis was the first ocassion where the new rules were applicable. The French men won all categories and only Tunisia's Olfa Saoudi and Cristina Cabana Perez of Spain won their categories. Read more

The Dutch Judo Association have added Michael Bazynski to its coaching staff. The former 58-year old German women's headcoach was active for eight years in Germany and now moved to Arnhem, where the Dutch national training centre is based since last year. Read more

Dutch Olympic medallist Anicka van Emden retires as top athlete. Van Emden won World bronze in 2011 and 2013 and highlighted her career in Rio with Olympic bronze. In 2011 she won European silver followed by bronze in 2014 and 2016 and she claimed 13 Grand Slam medals. Read more
