Alice Schlesinger British citizen and on her way to international comeback

15 Dec 2014 13:35

Alice Schlesinger of Israel finally find her way to be back on the mat. Okay, let's be honest, it's really hard to compete with Yarden Gerbi who is every day closer and closer to the Olympic medal, but apparently everything began a few days after the Olympics in a fateful meeting between Schlesinger and IJA chairman Moshe Ponti.

Well that depends on who you tend to believe.

Last weekend the British Championships in Sheffield were held. The biggest surprise was to see Alice Schlesinger fighting, and guess what, she won U63kg category division. In the final match she won against youngster Amy Livesey.

With her British Passport that he owned because of her British mother this is a likely scenario to compete for GBR in the future.

The 26-year old Olympian found a possible way how to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Meanwhile Schlesinger became World Champion in Sambo and in Kurash. Now she doesn't have to compete anymore in other martial arts as she is back on the judo mat.

But the Olympic path isn't so easy as Gemma Howell and British talent Katie Jemima Yeats-Brown still have their ambitions as well. Howell is on her way back and already took some points in Zagreb and Glasgow.
