The World Judo Championships continue with day three in Budapest, again with strong Asian input as Japan again has two contenders in the semi finals. With Soichi Hashimoto and Tsukasa Yoshida, the Japanese can again take the jackpot at the third day. The Azeri fighters U73kg show their best judo.

The stories are for grab in Budapest where the crowd was awaiting a stunt of one of their judolegends Miki Ungvari and Hedvig karakas. It’s the tenth World Championship for Ungvari who is still eager to continue. He opened the day with the first fight in the Arena and won two matches, but lost in this field of 73kg against Smagulov (KAZ). Soichi Hashimoto won that pool and defeated Lasha Shavdatuashvili in the quarterfinal and will meet with Hidayet Heydarov of Azerbaijan. It’s not a surprise anymore that the Azeri are outstanding in this class as also Rustam Orujov won all his bouts and qualified for the semi final. His opponent will be An Chang-Rim, the World Champion who was expected as well. So huge surprises and a lot of casualties and surprises. Good judo by youngster Martin Hojak (SLO) and the surprise was Chinese Saiyinjirigala but knocked out Butbul Tohar who looked so good and confident today.

Watch the semi final stats here and conclude if it will be an Asian final, or European input.
