Rustam Orujov of Azerbaijan won Olympic silver in Rio and became World Championships silver medallist in 2017 in Budapest. In 2016 he was European champion and bronze in 2017. Rustam and won the Grand Prix in Havana in 2016, Grand Prix in Baku (2012), Grand Slam Baku in 2013 and Grand Prix Tbilisi and Samsun, both in 2015. In 2015 he won silver in Paris, Düsseldorf and Abu Dhabi in 2016. Orujov was born in Ust-Ilimsk in Russia. He won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam in Baku in 2017.

Soichi Hashimoto claims expected gold medal U73kg

Japan captured another gold medal, their fifth in total and eight medals in total counting juist three days of fighting in Budapest. Soichi Hashimoto was the expected winner, and despite 73 judoka in this category U73kg, still the favourites were able to win the medal. Ganbaatar Odbayar was more of a surprise medal for Mongolia, another one from this relative new judo country. Read more
