Naohisa Takato World Champion 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. Won bronze at the worlds in Chelyabinsk in 2014. Won the World Junior title in 2011 in Cape Town. Takato was World U17 Champion in Budapest in 2009. Won the Grand Slams in Moscow, Tokyo, Paris and Masters in Tyumen 2013. Paris and Tokyo in 2015. Olympic bronze medallist in 2016 in Rio.

Junior World champion Nagayama Ryuju steals the show U60kg

Junior world champion Nagayama Ryuju shocked Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Takato Naohisa to win U60kg gold on day one in Tokyo. The teammates who train together every day at Tokai University met in one of Japan’s four finals as Nagayama threw spectacularly with an uchi-mata for ippon with 44 seconds remaining as he lifted up Takato from his knees and over onto this back. The silver medallist gave Nagayama a pat on his back after the contested was awarded and both judoka will be in contention in 2017 on the IJF World Judo Tour. Read more

At 26 August it’s usually time for the World Championships and we can remember some of the best athletes on this day with a world title. Mongolia doesn’t count too many world titles, but at 26 August both Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar and Urantsetseg Munkhbat won the world title. Tsagaanbaatar Khashbaatar in Rotterdam in 2009 and Urantsetseg Munkhbat in 2013 in Rio. Read more

Mixed feelings in the Japanese men's team about Rio2016

The Olympic Games have ended and the Judo Tournament has passed for a week. The Japanese men’s team had the ability to win 5-6 gold medals. In the end they went home with seven medals, but two gold medals. Still a tremendous share in the overall medal table of Japan and hopeful for Tokyo 2020, but they all had mixed feelings.
