Naohisa Takato regained the World title in 2017 in Budapest. In 2013 he had won the title in Rio de Janeiro for the first time. Takato won bronze at the worlds in Chelyabinsk in 2014. He won the World Junior title in 2011 in Cape Town. In 2009 Takato became World Cadet Champion also in Budapest. He was Olympic bronze medallist in 2016 in Rio. In 2017 he added his third Paris victory. Takato won the Grand Slams in Moscow, Tokyo, Paris and Masters in Tyumen 2013. Paris and Tokyo in 2015.

Eight new World Ranking leaders set Japan back to the top

On Monday the new IJF World Ranking was released with eight new world ranking leaders. Soichi Hashimoto (U73kg) and Sumiya Dorjsuren (U57kg) were number one last week and also won the world title. It’s not about the ranking but about the performance. Four male World Ranking leaders of last week didn’t make a medal, three women didn’t make a medal and heavyweight Slutskaya couldn’t participate in Budapest. We introduce the new Ranking leaders. Khasan Khalmurzaev is one of the best examples for the cadets. The Russian Olympic champion became Cadet World champion in 2009 and won the Olympic title 7 years later.
