Spanish Julia Figueroa won the Grand Slam of Tyumen in 2015, as first ever Spanish to win a Grand Slam. She won her 1st World Cup in Madrid. Figueroa won 3 Spanish titles and national titles in U17, U20 and U23. Bronze in 2015 at the Grand Slam of Paris. Figueroa won the Grand Slam of Baku in 2016.

Spanish Julia Figueroa was the overwhelming force in the U48kg category as the Spaniard won all four of her outings to top the podium in Baku. The 25-year-old, who is on course for her first Olympic Games, did not need to compete in the final as her would be opponent Hungarian Csernoviczki Eva was unable to fight due to sustaining a right knee injury in her prior contest. Spanish Julia Figueroa became the winner of the Grand Slam U48kg, she didn’t have to fight Eva Csernoviczki who had an knee injury and couldn’t compete. Both were actually equal in head2heads and Figueroa beat her last year in Tbilisi. Figueroa gets the points and won her second Grand Slam. Last year she won the Grand Slam in Tyumen. Figueroa is the only one of Spain who ever won a Grand Slam, now even two. Four Spanish finals at a Grand Slam were lost. Read more
