Lukas Krpalek became Olympic Champion in 2016 in Rio. Krpalek was World Champion of 2014 and double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg. Already the best ever Czech judoka of all time. He was double Junior World Champion. Krpalek was 7th at the Olympic Games in London. Coached by Petr Lacina.

Lukas Krpalek was one of the nicest surprises of the Olympic Games tournament U100kg. We knew he could do it, he was world champion in 2014 and double Junior World Champion like Teddy Riner. Also he was the tallest of the field, but we hadn’t seen him too much and the Europeans weren’t a success, but at 11 August everything found its place. Read more

The Olympic Games Games Judo Tournament has come to an end with Japan leading the medal table as expected, however the Asian countries were expected to dominate much more. Instead the European nations built out the number of titles to eight compared to seven in London. Pan America was able to capture three titles, same number as Asia. Read more

Anyone could become Olympic champion in the men’s U100kg division. The field had so many favourites that each of the participants could knock out the elite. The elite has a short expiry date. The World medallists of Astana last year had no guarantee for a medal. In the field two former Olympic champions, and they were knocked out in the first round.
