Lukas Krpalek became Olympic Champion in 2016 in Rio. Krpalek was World Champion of 2014 and double European Champion in 2013 and 2014 U100kg. Already the best ever Czech judoka of all time. He was double Junior World Champion. Krpalek was 7th at the Olympic Games in London. Coached by Petr Lacina. After the Olympic title he switched to +100kg and he took bronze at the European Championships in Warsaw in 2017. He won gold at the Grand Prix in Hohhot.

Lukas Krpalek injures left leg after training camp

Czech judo star and World number three Lukas Krpalek has suffered an unfortunate and badly timed injury. The Olympic Champion U100kg and current challenger for the world title +100kg injured his lower left leg during a training session on Monday. The winner of the Hohhot Grand Prix left the training camp for treatment of his broken ligaments in his ankle. Read more

Teddy Riner unseeded at the World Championships in Budapest

Teddy Riner is not seeded at the World Championships in Budapest. Riner lost 50% of the Olympic points after a reduction last weekend. Same counts for Olympic runner-up Hisayoshi Harasawa who is now ranked tenth and only the first nine are seeded as Russian Andrey Volkov won't compete. Japanese Ojitani is the last seeded. The 14th place is Riner's lowest position ever. Read more

The last and most awaited final of the Grand Prix in Antalya was the one between the current U100kg Olympic Champion, Lukas Krpalek of Czech Republic and Iurii Krakovetskii (KGZ).
