There was yet another miracle on Saturday at the European Championships in Warsaw. Maryna Slutskaya became the first woman ever to win the European title for her country, Belarus. The heavyweight, coached by Leonid Svyrid, claimed the European title after she defeated Svitlana Iaromka of the Ukraine in the final. Read more

French Audrey Tcheumeo earns fourth European title

French judoka Audrey Tcheumeo won the European title in Warsaw against against Dutch World number one Guusje Steenhuis. This is her fourth European title. In the dream final, Steenhuis struck first with a ko-soto/o-uchi combination, driving Tcheumeo nearly to the edge of the mat, scoring a waza-ari. Tcheumeo, however, fought back and scored with just over a half-minute remaining in the contest and finished Steenhuis 20 seconds with a strong counter for ippon. Read more

Aleksandar Kukolj claims first ever European title for Serbia

Aleksandar Kukolj defeated Alex Clerget in the anticipated final at the European Championships in Warsaw. The numbers one and two of the seeding list reached the final.
