ZAM
For many years Zambia has played a leading role in offering refugees an opportunity to practise judo. Based on the progress made in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe joined the initiative successfully. Together with the IJF Judo for Peace South Africa program, judo proves that through its activities, people can learn to live together. Simon Zulu is one of the big talents winning the Commonwealth U18 Championships in Nassau and African U18 Championships in Bujumbura. Shapa Wakung’Uma and Esther Sando won African Games bronze medals in 2007 and 2011. Boas Munyonga competed at the London Olympic Games and Mathews Punza at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
